撒母耳記上第三課：撒母耳記上第十一章至第十二章
一。撒母耳記上十一章：掃羅擊敗亞捫人
1. 亞捫人是誰的後代？（參看創世記19:36-38；申命記2:19。）在以色列歷史上，亞捫人是否曾經攻擊過以色列人？（參閱士師記3:12-14。）結果如何？
2. 亞捫人的王，拿轄，為什麼要剜出以色列人的右眼？第一，想想看，打戰時，他們用什麼武器？他們需要雙___才能夠對準目標。大部分人是___手，也是右___。第二：只有一個眼睛也影響人家的景深。
3. 聆聽消息時，掃羅正在做什麼？為什麼？

二。撒母耳記上十二章：撒母耳自白與離別的話
1. 請列出撒母耳向以色列人所說他做的和他沒有做的一切。
2. 撒母耳歸榮耀給誰？撒母耳勸以色列人要對誰忠誠？
3. 撒母耳與眾人述說哪段以色列的歷史？
4. 撒母耳提醒百姓是誰要求他立國王？17節：他們如此行，在耶和華面前是犯大___了。為了強調這點，為了讓百姓敬畏神，撒母耳禱告，求神行神跡似的，是什麼？
5. 20-21節，真理與金句：“…不要偏離耶和華，只要盡心事奉他。若偏離耶和華去順從那不能救人的虛神是無益的”（和合本）。新譯本翻譯為：“…不可偏離不跟隨耶和華，總要一心事奉他。不可偏離耶和華，去追隨那些空虛的偶象，因為它們本是空虛的，對人沒有什麼益處，也不能救人”。普通話本翻譯為：“…不要背離主，要一心一意地侍奉他。不要去追隨那些毫無用處的偶像，它們對你們毫無益處，也救不了你們，因為它們本來就一無所能”。（請自選一個翻譯本，思考，背誦。）
6. 24-25節：撒母耳的結論：“只要你們___畏耶和華，誠誠實實地盡心事___他，想念他向你們所行的事何等___。你們若仍然作___，你們和你們的王必一同___亡”。

Chapters Eleven through Twelve
1. 1 Samuel 11: Saul Defeats the Ammonites
1) Whose descendants were the Ammonites (see Genesis 19:36-38; Deuteronomy 2:19). Historically, had the Ammonites ever attacked the Israelites (see Judges 3:12-14)? What was the result?
2) Why did Nahash, king of Ammon, want to gouge out the right eyes of the Israelites? First, consider that an important weapon in warfare was the b___. They needed two e___ in order to focus on a target. Most people were r___-handed, right-ey___. Second, having only one eye also interferes with one’s depth-of-field.
3) What was Saul doing when he heard the news?
4) How did Saul react to the news?
5) How did Saul muster the Israelite troops?
6) What was Saul’s strategy when he attacked the Ammonites?
7) What was the result?
8) Vs. 12-13: Point out two things Saul did for which we can praise him.
9) Vs. 14: “Then Samuel said to the people, ‘Come, let us go to Gilgal and there reaffirm the kingship.’” [Two Chinese translations are given.] Different people interpret this verse in different ways, as follows: 1) Perhaps Samuel wants to install Saul king in the presence of more people. 2) Perhaps Samuel wants the Israelite multitudes to decide anew to allow the Lord God to be their King. 3) Perhaps both of these viewpoints are correct. Verse 15 indicates that the assembly accepted Saul as king. Chapter 12 signifies that Samuel encouraged the people to accept God as their King.
2.1 Samuel 12: Samuel’s Vindication and Farewell
1) List all the things that Samuel told the Israelites that he did and that he did not do.
2) To whom did Samuel give all glory? Samuel encouraged the Israelites to be faithful to whom?
3) What portion of their history did Samuel review with the Israelites?
4) Samuel reminded the people that it was whom who requested the establishment of a kingship. Vs. 17: In so doing, they did an e___ thing in the eyes of the Lord. In order to emphasize his point and to make the people respect the Lord, Samuel prayed and asked God to perform a miracle; what was it?
5) Vs. 20-21: A true statement and a golden verse: “…do not turn away from the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless..” [Three Chinese translations are given.] (Please select a translation, think about it deeply and memorize it.)
6) Vs. 24-25: Samuel’s conclusion: “But be sure to f___ the LORD and s___ him faithfully with all your heart; consider what g___ things he has done for you. Yet if you persist in doing e___, both you and your king will be s___ away.”
